ok. on the day before our christmas vacation next month my school always has like an anything goes competition with the kids where they participate in all sorts of events kinda like field day. Me and the pricipal are planning to do the Feud as one of the events with me in charge. the way its going to work is we are going to have six teams for a total of 3 games. I need to play all 3 games in about a 45 min. time period. im not sure what format to play:
S-S-D 200PTS+FAST MONEY OR S-D-T 300PTS+FAST MONEY
which one do you think will work best?

We had the same timeline for our Homecoming Feud and used the S-S-D-D-T (1 question tie breaker) format to 200 pts. We went to the 4 round in 2 out of the 3 games. You may not have time for fast money as we went 12 min or so per game and that was rushing it. We did a test run with questions from a show I taped (Karn version) and played a practice session with all of the teams so they knew how to play, the specifics of the rules, procedure, etc. It helped us figure out exactly how long it took to play a game. You may want to consider that before playing it for real.

but see here we are going be playing with a shortend verison of it.....im sorta leaning torward S-S-D 200pts. I'd lean towards that one as well. With that format, games should take no more than 15-20 minutes if you race through them. Also, try to avoid long surveys. That will eat into time greatly. I'd try to keep them to 8 answers or fewer. That should limit the number of surveys to 9 per game (4 for the main game, 5 for Fast Money). Just... don't fraternize with the girls in the class too much.

Which host will you be like? If you're going to just 200 points and have no fast money, I'm sure you'll have enough time to develop a hosting style. Oops! I just remembered you won't be hosting, maybe I can? ;D Then I could fraternize with the female contestants!

but see here we are going be playing with a shortend verison of it.....im sorta leaning torward S-S-D 200pts. I understand that the ideal game will be a S-S-D (which is what we had planned for ours as well), but you have to keep in mind that you must be prepared for a situation in which the teams don't guess some of the top answers and you end up with a score of 178-124 or something like that where a winner isn't decided after 3 rounds. You'll need to be prepared to have more rounds than you think you'll need. That's why I suggested our formula of SSDDT. We never had to go to a 5th round, but we knew if we did, we'd have a winner b/c of the tie-breaker setup with 1 answer and triple points. We also had a few back-up questions, in case we had a situation in which a question needed to be thrown out. We never had to go to it, but we knew it was there if we needed it. I'm sure you'll be fine, I just wanted to give you a heads-up on some of the things we encountered while playing. Hopefully, yours will run smoothly.

No matter who wins or loses Bullseye wouldn't affect the outcome of the game at all unless you're actually going to give away up to $15,000 to each team at the end.

(for my question) I want to give everyone a chance to play. i can omit the fast money bonus round if i want...what would be a good format in that case that wouldnt seem to rushed and would also not be too long....i was thinking maybe S-S-D-T 300pts? or S-S-D-D-T would work fine to as chances of round 5. are slim and none......

I really think you're thinking into this too much. The chances are very slim that not every person will play. Your primary goal here is to keep three games under 45 minutes max. Everything else is secondary, such as concerns that not every person will get a chance to play. Just stick with either one of the 300 point formats. You can have a moderately paced game and keep it under 15 minutes for each game. Going from one game to another shouldn't take over 10 seconds of computer time and switching teams after a game over shouldn't takee a minute. The actual show, afterall, without long family dialog at the beginning and without commercials is about 12 minutes.
