For those who never knew why the staff of Family Feud replaced their buzzer devices for the Faceoff podium, it was actually broken by a contestant. At first, the contestant only bended it. After trying to reposition it, he broke it off sending a spring flying across the set. Richard used it as a prop for several gags, including an ornament for his pocket, then a microphone for a contestant (shown), then a detonator for a bomb to blow up studio 9.
