Hopefully no one will take offense to this but I got a letter in my inbox today that really set me off. The letter didn't come from anyone here or in the game show community for that matter so none of my frustration is coming out towards anyone here. The letter talked about a personal experience they had in which it reminded them of how much they dislike one of the presidential candidates for the election this year. It was a truly touching experience they elaborated on quite well in their letter. Then they went on to state how frustrated they were with the positions held by one of the presidential candidates. And they sent this letter to just about everyone they knew; at least 50 people were addressed in the To field. On and on they went about their position about the issue. Then this person said the only fix for the problem was to vote the way they were voting...to "think about" their story when they checked Bush or Kerry. I will not go on to say who they supported, what their problem was with the candidate in question, or who I feel is the best candidate for president next year. Those things have nothing to do with it. See, no matter how you slice it, we're all going to disagree with one another about all kinds of things, including politics. There are some disagreements to which there is no solution, this election being one of them. Someone may disagree with me on this, but whatever side you're on, no one is right and no one is wrong. It's a never-ending debate just like gun control, abortion, stem-cell research, etc. So what's one person's word over another? It's nothing. I don't care who you are, you don't go around blowing your trumpet just because you think you're high and mighty. This person obviously thinks their opinions and feelings outweigh those of people like you and me. Whether you're a voter or not, just take this one piece of advice with you on your way: don't ever let ANYONE tell you what you like or how you feel. No one knows how you feel or what you like except for YOU. Everyone is made different and unique and made to have differing likes, dislikes, and feelings. This doesn't directly tie in with anything game show related but I just had it on my mind to say. That's why this is the "general forum," afterall. Thanks for your time.

Well we should have our own opinions. For example, I feel that John Kerry is a complete moron who is just shovling a bunch of poop down the throats of those who are going to vote for him. Sure, he looks great when he talks, but everything he says is empty.

We all disagree. It's just human nature and trust me I could go on all day about what I think of the elections and the presidential candidates but I don't and you know why It's extremly annoying.
It's bad enough everytime I turn TV or the radio and have to hear these people tell me about how their oppions are so much better than everybody else then I go online check my e-mail and have half them tell me their oppions. It's just plain tacky. My grandma used to have this great saying that is still one of my favorites "If I wanted your oppion I'd ask for it."

Sheesh Robbie, the first thing out of your mouth after Todd's insightful, respectful, intelligent post is some jargon are "poop, shovling, and morons". If this is a thread to share our opinions about this years election, so be it. I personally feel Kerry has the upper-hand. Not only does he have a more presidential-feel than the supposed Simpleton George Bush, but he really dominated the debates. It was clear that Kerry knew what he was doing, had plans, didn't dodge questions as often as Bush did, and was definitely on the offense. Bush on the other hand, seemed to have to defend himself the entire way. When he was asked a straightforward question, he would go off on a shallow, meaningless 2-minute tangent. There's a difference between simple and complicated. Bush is taking Simple Facts and making them complicated to confuse the public....You can't dodge the fact that Bush LOST jobs for America, or that he found no WMDs...Bush tries to "fancy-it-up" by mentioning how many jobs created in the last six months, as well as repeating himself that "Saddam Hussein was a threat". But, in my opinion, it was by no means a reason for war. We rushed into war, plain and simple. The only thing that Bush has against Kerry is his supposed "FLIP FLOPPING". That's IT. It's amazing to me how, based on that simple, two-word phrase and nothing more, no more backing, that the two are virtually tied in the polls. I think it's sad, and people need to wake up and realize there IS better out there. Although Kerry may not be everyone's "Ideal" candidate, it sticks with what I've heard so many times before.... "ANYONE BUT BUSH" I invite you to watch the following video to see exactly how this administration dwells on tragedy and pessimism. September 11th is used to distract the public from the administration's lack of planning and sense of direction. There's more to being president than "going after the terrorists". Apparently, they've never heard of "move on". www.abum.com/?show_media=1668 Douglas

How about you listen to "Fahrenheit 7/11" or, perhaps, "Fahrehype 911"?
*raises eyebrow*
I don't see why you're taking personal shots at me when I said NOTHING ABOUT ANY OF YOU... simply because I made a comment about an opinion of mine. I'm not going to stand for that. Stick to the two candidates and not the forum members...
...thanks.

I don't consider a "personal shot" a harmless comment about something you said. Responding isn't a "shot". If it was, your comment to me could be considered murder. I didn't slander you, or insult you, so I don't consider it a so-called-"shot".
As you can see, I only wasted a sentence on you, while writing several paragraphs about the candidates.

This thread is exactly what I'm talking about. No matter what, we're all going to have our own opinions about politics and specific candidates. We can go on and on about why we feel Bush or Kerry should be elected but what would it accomplish? Absolutely nothing. There are clear Bush and Kerry supporters here. Trust me, nothing one side can say will make the other side change their mind.
Concerning the debates and the competition between both candidates: we won't know the winner until all the votes have been cast. There is no clear winner of the attack ads. There is no clear winner of the debates, especially. The debate winner is determined just like any judged sport in the Olympics.
I'm not angry at anyone here for stating their opinion or for siding with their respective parties. I would like, though, for everyone here to stop a minute and think about what you're saying. As passionate as you are about your position, do you really think you're going to talk someone out of their position that they're just as passionate about?
I would like to say that I voted for the first time in my life today. I am 24 years old and have had several elections I could have voted in. I feel bad about that. Today, however, I got to experience something that made me feel so much more American. I voiced my opinion by electing my choice for president.
There's nothing like freedom.

Ill have to agree with Todd on what he said and I also have a point our own opinions does not only affect our President nor our Candidates but it also involves everything going on around here like the news the movies just everything you can think about for example I'm usually about the movies and video games but whenever people make a bad enough comment I usally get angry and offended and try to set things straight but some people are just not at my side and sometimes people are but thats just my fact all of you may have your own opinions some of you may have opinions similar to mine but one things for sure we have our own opinions

Guys, I just want you to see something that I came up with. It's not much... just what I percieve the truth as: The only thing that separates the two parties is a post-graduate degree. I can honestly tell you that one of my wishes is the abolishment of political parties around the world. That's the basis for intolerance which is something we can't get rid of because there's politics in everything. Even our joyous game shows have politics in them... just look at the early Dawson Feud. It's stuff like this that makes me second-guess as to why I even bother trying to speak my mind. It's just too darn difficult to speak today without getting nailed in the back with a blow dart or 75.
