The game played pretty much like any other show played...you're not going to notice much difference in the audio. In fact, they were missing some sounds. -The "ding" used for Fast Money didn't exist. They used the same bell that was used when a family wins the bank, only they rang it once. -The fiddle and harmonica cues didn't exist. The cue they used for the opener and for every face-off was the banjo-only cue we're hearing them use occassionally on the run of the show now. ...They used an awful sounding buzzer and Johnny Olson was the announcer instead of Gene Wood. I could post something like that perhaps in the future.

Speaking of which did they use the 400 point system or the 300 point system

On the pilot, I would imagine that they played to 200 points as was the rule of the show in the 70's. I know every round was single though...there were no doubles or triples.

On the pilot, I would imagine that they played to 200 points as was the rule of the show in the 70's. I know every round was single though...there were no doubles or triples. That's correct, they played to 200 points. With every round being single points, it took a while to declare a winner. I'd be willing to bet that this is where the double points came into play, to reduce TV time. Also, for each faceoff, only the heads of the families played. Otherwise, all the other rules carried over from the pilot to the first show. A few other notable items of interest: take a look at the left family's point total in the fourth picture and notice the "9." The character matrix set up for each number looked like the usual character set for the Fast Money round. It was changed for the premier show. During one of the face-offs, a player actually ended up breaking off part of the buzzer by accident (the piece fit right back on, not affecting the rest of the gameplay). Also, directly under the game board, take a look at those three slit-looking things. Those were panels removed at some point during the game (when, I don't know) that would reveal each a translucent window with an X on it that would light up with each strike. It never showed up on the screen both because it didn't light up bright and the cameras almost never focues on them. Speaking of strikes, the superimposed one, two, or three strike graphics didn't exist. For each strike, a large box with and X in the middle overlayed over the entire TV screen. If you'll look at the first picture mb425 posted, what you're seeing there is a transition shot of the second introduced family and Johnny Olsen announced "...let's start the Family Feud!..." The transition effect started in the middle and grew to completely reveal the wide-angle shot of the set. And you can't really tell it that well but the game board is much, much lower than it was before. Richard would get hit in the head if he stood directly in front of it. I can't think of anything else that notable about the show to speak of right now.

Is there any place on the internet where I can watch video of the pilot? I've been wanting to see it for years.
