I always liked the SSSDT to 300 points format on the show. Playing to 200 points didn't seem to give enough game play while playing to 400 points seemed too rushed. With the SSSDT format, you on average would have 4-5 rounds of game play. Of course, if you are playing a live game with no time limit, I'd say go to 400 points.

I Personally would have to say i like the most is SSDDT 300pts because using SSSDT, you have to make sure you have alteast 6 questions avilable for the game, but with SSDDT, the max really is only 5 rounds. Speaking of having questions avilable, on Saturday, we played the feud SSSSDT 400pts, but after 6 rounds neither team had 400pts i had to stop the game and make up another question.... ..back to SSDDT- i only see the need to make up 5 quest. because if you do the math....thoughout the game its around 800pts total so if neither team gets 300pts...something is wrong..

The thing about running out of questions doesn't bother me because I always make up WAY more questions than I need. Normally, I have at least 3-4 Single Questions, 2 Doubles, and about 4-5 Triples.

I use the S-S-S-D-D-T format 'till a family gets 300pt. In my oppion this version is the most effective .

but thats not an actual format used on the show was it? Well that's the whole idea. I've experimented with other formats and found this one to be the best because there are enough points availble to the point where I don't run out of questions and not too many to the point where it feels like it takes forever to play. It's balanced .

what other formats have you expiremented with? Everything under the sun. Some of the formats I've tried in the past have been 10 single rounds which was fun but had a tendency to drag on. I also tried 3 single, 3 double and 3 triple which worked but I had a tendency to have alot of unused questions at the end. I was looking for something balanced where I had enough questions and points available hence how I came up with my format. I have 6 questions with a 1,000 points available and it works for me everytime.

but how do you keep track of which questions to use? Not sure what you mean... I just have the questions loaded into the folder of the game and number the question cards so I know which one to read.
