I was checking out IGN's website and stumbled upon two lovely tidbits of information. The first is the release date for the DS may be a week sooner, making it November 15! So if you're in the market to purchase one of these little lovely things, you may be able to get it early!
Second, the DS will come with a thumb strap. It's a gizmo that attaches to the DS like a carrying strap and has an attachment at the other end that you can place your thumb in. With the thumb strap on, you can use it to touch the screen without the oils from your skin smearing all over the screen. This will come in very handy for Metroid Prime Hunters as the screen itself is used to control the direction you're looking.
The thumb strap and touch-screen combo is a great idea for an alternative to an analog thumb stick that IGN says actually feels comfortable, though it may wear out your thumb if used too much. We'll have to all try it before we like it I'm sure. The IGN author went on to say that the thumb strap/touch screen combo totally changed his opinion about the Metriod game as well as 3d-shooter games in general.
