What are your thoughts about "Family Feud" on DVD, & VHS? Agian, it wouldn't be good for something so trivial to be sold on the regular market. However, it does sound like a good "parting" gift the Feud could give you if your family loses. You could have all of the outrageous and "stupid" moments from the show's three incarnations for you watch and say to yourself... "at least I didn't think an orange was a 'yellow' fruit!". ;D

Depends, what kind of DVD set are we talking about here?
Is it the complete series? If so, wouldn't it be over a hundred episodes? How many DVD's would that be? It sounds a little impratical.
Is it a best of Family Feud and if so how would that be arranged? Would you just show the best moments, episodes or bloopers? In my oppion (Especially after seeing the GSN Thanksgiving marathon) I think it should show the best episodes and maybe there could be a bonus disc that shows all the bloopers (Plus all the other bonuses like interviews and extras). I just wonder how much it would be if they ever did that. That would be my main concern.

When Mark Goodson came onto the set to congratulate Richard on the Feud's first show in it's third season, Mark mentioned the show they were taping was it's 521st episode. Meaning there were 520 episodes in the two previous seasons, also meaning there were 260 episodes being shown per season. Which means there was absolutely no hiatous!

That would be the biggest reason it would seem impractical -- and honestly, would the average consumer want to watch a game show on DVD over and over again?! And not to sound pessimistic-like, but a Feud soundtrack wouldn't sell very well. Not to mention that even as a parting gift, it might become the next fruitcake until it finds a home. The best thing I could think of -- and yes, this too would be impractical -- would be to release a survey book containing a number of the countless thousands of surveys, along with the year that the survey was taken and who was surveyed (100 people, 100 married men, etc.). That would be better than releasing more versions of the board game, considering that the board game violates the one rule that was clear since episode 1 of Feud '76: "Two people would have to say it for it to make the survey."

Classic game shows like Family Feud have a much stronger appeal to a very narrow range of people. If it ever existed, we belong to almost a "cult following" of the show. While it may make perfect sense to us fellow Feud-followers to release DVDs, soundtracks, and other associated products, in reality these items would not be worth the effort. They simply wouldn't sell like Star Trek's first through third season, Seinfield's DVD collection set, Star Wars' Trilogy, Simpson's season collections, etc. At the very most, I could see a "Greatest Game Show Moments" collection DVD set on the discount rack but nothing more.

Wow. You guys have spoken. I thought that it would be a teriffic idea. Since each season had 260 episodes, each season would available in volumes. For example: Volume 1 of the 1st "Family Feud" series would have 65 epsiodes on 13 DVD discs. I was thinking that if you record "Family Feud" on videotape every weekday, or every weeknight (whichever the case may be), you can transfer those episodes from the videocassette to a DVD. I'm thinking of making my own "Family Feud" DVD collection. Would you?

I record Family Feud daily because it comes on while I'm working. When I have time, I'll sit and watch it. If they're good episodes, I'll record them onto DVD. So I have an abbreviated collection.
Do you realize what the cost would be for producing sets of 13 DVDs? Though this may be a crude comparison, most popular TV show collections have a six or seven disc set for each of their seasons. It can cost around $100 or more for each collection. Granted, most of what you're paying for isn't necessarily the media, it's the work behind producing what's on the disc and fancy packaging. And the cost of such a product would more than likely cost over $100 each.
Whatever the cost would be, you have to sit back and think about what average Joe would buy. No matter how good we think the show is, average Joe isn't paying anything near $100 for an almost 30 year old game show collection. And there aren't enough avid game show fans to give the publisher a good profit. Heck, there are probably avid game show fans who wouldn't even buy such a thing.
I know it sounds like we're blasting your ideas out of the water. It's a good idea, just only for a very select few group of people.

You never know you might see it on the store shelves someday. I've seen stranger ideas for DVD sets. Just the other day when I was in Circuit City I saw Unsolved Mysteries on sale. Who it the heck would buy that? Or a better question who would want to see old crimes that have been already solved on DVD? So if that can come on to DVD Family Feud can. Don't give up hope .

To that, I'll say don't hold your breath. I agree with you. I was just saying you never know what happens in mind of people who create those DVD sets.

Hey, Grey. I know that this a little off the category, but what happened to your "Family Feud" music site? I can't get enough of those music cues. Is there anyway that you can bring it back online?

Who it the heck would buy that? ;D!!I WOULD!! ;D If I had a DVD player. That show used to scare the $#!^ out of me and long into the night! What season do the DVD's show? I would like to see the NBC years (1988-1997). The opening sequence from the mid-90's was the best! It starts with an explosion, followed by skulls and all sorts of stuff. If there was a "drooling" icon, I'd use it.
