I have an idea for a new game show. I'm actually considering getting in contact with someone at some point to try and get this into production. Anyway, I'd like some of your opinions on this first.
The game is called A Way With Words. It's a combination of Pyramid and Password (late 70's and 80's versions)
Main Game
There are 2 teams of 1 celebrity, and 1 regular contestant on each. Each team is given 3 words. The person giving the clues then must describe each word to his or her partner. He or she can say whatever they like, providing they don't say a part of the word or words in the clue. They will have 10 seconds(maybe 15, still tinkering with that), to relay all 3 words.
The 6 words combined, describe a certain subject. When both teams have played, the words correctly identified, will go into a Password style puzzle. The team that got more of their words correctly identified, will get the first shot at guessing what is being described. In the case of a tie, the team that got their words identified correctly in the faster time would get first guess. BTW just to clarify, in such a situation, only the words correctly identified will be factored into who had the better time. For instance, if each team had gotten 2 words right, then only the amount of time spent on those two words would count as their time. Anything after that, does not matter.
Now if after the times are totaled, and there is still a tie, then a coin toss (done backstage before the game in case of such an occasion), would determine who gets first guess. BTW, for the reminder of that game, any time where the scores and times were tied, control would switch back and forth depending on who won the inital coin toss. If for some reason, neither team gets a word right during play, then the first word of the puzzle will be shown, and the winner of the coin toss backstage would be able to guess. If they guess incorrectly, the 2nd word in the puzzle is shown, and the other team gets to guess. BTW, only receivers can guess the puzzle in the main game, since the people giving may have seen words not revealed in the puzzle. If neither team can identify a puzzle, it gets thrown out. First three puzzles are worth $100. Then the next is $200, followed by $300 till a winner is decided. First team to $400 wins the game, and goes to the bonus game. (the scoring system may change, I'm still trying to perfect it )
Bonus Game (tentatively titled: Pyramid Puzzles)
The winning team is given 5 puzzles structured the same way as the main game ones are. The team gets 2 minutes to solve all 5. When the time starts, the person giving the clues will be shown the first word to the first puzzle. He or she then must get his or her partner to identify that word or words. Once again, he or she can say whatever they wish providing they do not use a part of the word or words in the clue. However here, they can cannot use their hands. Once the first word is identified, the 2nd word is shown and it goes so on down the line. If the person giving the clues does not know what to say for a word, they can pass it, and go on to the next one. If any point, they think they can identify the puzzle, they can hit a button on their chair, that will stop the clock, and then they will get a few seconds to guess the puzzle before the clock restarts again. If the entire puzzle is revealed, and they still don't know it, they can pass it and come back to it if there is time left. However at that point, the clock would not be stopped. BTW, if at any point during a puzzle, the giver says any part of a word in the clue, that entire puzzle will be thrown out. Each puzzle alone is worth $500 each. If all 5 are solved within 2 minutes, the regular contestant wins $20,000. I plan to have returning champions, and straddling.
That's the idea. Whatcha guys think of it. Is there anything you think could be better? BTW, if you have any ideas on a scoring system, please let me know. Thanks
