Though it's not as plain as day, the board operator was visible the other day turning the game board around on the Dawson Feud show. They must have been using a different lighting scheme to illuminate the board. Anyway, you can see him pretty good. You can pretty much only see his leg in this shot. But that's him, definitely.

I don't know for sure how much room there is back there but I would think they'd be able to leave him with plenty of room. There's really no reason to have such tight quarters back there...everything's black and the camera can't see behind the board.
Something that I can say with confidence is the floor level is below the opening for the game board; probably something like 6" below. As we discussed before, that's probably the clearance needed for the tires mounted underneath the game board.
Anyway, I thought you'd enjoy the picture.

I wonder if the family on the left side is looking at the board turning or the man that is turning the board... interesting!

From their angle, they would only be able to see the board and not the person turning it.

i think he ment to say the right family, but then again they too be angled so they only see the board rotation and not the board op.

The left family is looking up at the rotating trilon, but the right family (having a better view of the operator's leg) was looking at Dawson.

I have a question about the board thats been bugging me for a while. How many sides are on the board? As far as i know theres 4 the feud logo, the fast money motif, and 2 survey sides. But i wonder if the feud logo is removeable, then that would make it the fast money motif and 3 survey sides. Can anyone help me support this?

There are only three sides of the board. One side is the computerized flip-dot board and the other two are the flip-panel boards.
When the show opens to the Family Feud logo, that's actually one of the flip-panel boards. The logo actually hangs on to the flip-panel board (probably hangs over the top) and is removed when the board is turned around to the computerized side showing the animated Family Feud text.
On the Comb's Feud, you can actually see how the logo panel sits on the flip-panel board as the board turns. I'll get a screen grab for you sometime to show you what I mean.

After watching family feud on my dvr which allows me to stop and pause fast foward and rewind my live tv, i realized after watching the feud last week the part of the game board that shows the the teams score, there are sheet like material the hangs down. sometimes ray or richard will bumb into this as they make their entrance to the stage. I have a new idea of what behing the boad. If you look at the picture that is above all these post, it looks like the board is not against that very back wall. I like that you can walk behind those curtins and climb a few stairs and then your on a platform at which you can controll and remove the old survey question flip panels.

The back curtain or "cyclorama" is actually quite a ways behind the gameboard. Actually the "cyc" (sounds like what you would say to your opponant to throw them off) wraps around three sides of the set.

Yes, I can DEFINATELY tell you there is room behind the board and the back of the stage. I have one episode of Dawson's Feud where someone was seen running back there when Richard entered. Also, on another episode, a family gave Richard a bicycle, so he rode it all around the stage and it showed him riding behind the board.

If some of you watch E! THS Family Feud very closely when they show the families waiting for their turn to be on the show you can clearly see the board "protruding" from the wall. So guess like it wasnt tight back there as i orginally thought. Hey TV Fav can you try to post a pic of dawson riding his bike behind the board? This i got to see
