Does anyone know how many different strike sound variations there were during the Dawson era? I only remember 2 different one's maybe there were more. Combs era I noticed the one. Were there others on Combs' show too?

I'll answer this to the best of my knowledge but don't accept it as gospel truth:
There were only two buzzezers used for strikes during the Comb's run of the show.
As for the Dawson era, off the top of my head I count six not counting the pilot. One was used for the premiere and first several episodes, another was used shortly after that, then the one we hear on Dawson's Feud now. Another one was used after it, which is the one I use for my software. Then around 1981, they changed it again. Sometime around 83 or 84, they changed it again and used that buzzer for the remainder of the original run.
Sometimes the same buzzer could sound different. I imagine it has a lot to do with how its place to the mic.

Here's my answer. Just a guess...
From '76 to sometime in the early '80s, there were different strike sounds every week and different looking strikes every month or two. From the early '80s to the finale, there was one strike sound, but there was a smaller looking strike used in the last season or two.
From '88 to the late '89, there too were different strike sounds every week and different looking strikes every month or two. However, the Combs strike seems to have finally found a niche as of Dec. '89.

I can tell you with 100% confidence that they had at least two year-long or more runs where the buzzer was never changed during the first few years of the Dawson Feud.
