Is that thing legal? No, I'm not talking about the bunnies. As a buyer on ebay I frequently see these home-made DVD's.

Homemade DVDs of copyrighted shows are okay so long as you do not make any profit off of them, meaning the cost of materials and the stuff that goes into making it is all you can charge.
Considering the current bid is $9.99 (as of this post), the person who's selling it is making a profit and violating copyright laws unless he's actually giving some of the profits to FremantleMedia North America, which I seriously doubt.
If the material on the DVD has no or a self-held copyright (such as a homemade film), then it's okay.

Who cares? Fremantle makes enough money, good for that person if he or she can sell the DVD.

The point is that a copyright violation means a hefty fine and/or possible jail time. Yeah, I'd like to see how well you get treated when the other inmates learn that you're in for illegally selling DVDs of a TV show. |

I dont think this was a homemade dvd, since there is already a dvd copyright protection device of some sort on it. I'd think that playboy had the right to produce these dvds. Frematle media wouldnt make a profit since they dont own the rights to the 88 feud, since this feud special was done when Combs was hosting feud.

If you do a Google search for "family feud", "playboy", "dvd", you only come up with a handful of listings -- most of them auction-related. Playboy would not have the right to publish DVDs of Family Feud episodes, even if the episodes featured Playboy playmates. Whatever media conglomerate that currently has the rights to Combs' Feud has exclusive rights to publishing Combs' Feud DVDs. I'm sure that company's logo is shown at the end of the Combs episodes shown on GSN (I couldn't tell you because I don't *get* GSN in my city!). Joe |

Fremantle DOES own the rights to all American versions of the Feud (Dawson 76-85, Combs 88-94, Dawson 94-95, Anderson 1999-2002, Karn 2002- ). GSN's lease covers all Feud episodes produced by Goodson(-Todman) except Feud 94. The Fremantle produced episodes (Karn & Anderson) are not included in GSN's package.
Also, AFAIK, Feud never released any DVDs officially of any episodes including the Playboy specials. If I were to guess, I would say that these episodes would have the GSN logo in the corner of the screen.
