In case you haven't visited the screenshots page yet, there is a new shot of the family name signs; they look very good! However, there aren't any steps between the sign and the family podiums, like there are normally. I have 3 questions for Todd about this: 1. Will the family name signs be added to the Dawson version? 2. Will the signs only be used during the questions, or will it also be used in the opening? 3. Will the "strike lights" (the 3 little lights at the top of the signs) be on when a family gets the corresponding strike?

Cbuck, I'll try to answer all your questions as I'm sure they're on everyone's mind. 1) Originally I said, "No way," to this but I'm reconsidering. I have one last update I'd like to make for the original '76 version of my software including a bug fix and new strike sounds. The strikes in the '76 version sound too much like the sound used during Ray Combs' years on the show and I want to differentiate the two. 2) I know for sure it'll be part of the opening. It'll be a zoomed-in camera shot. It'll also be used to show points earned during Bullseye. There's not much use for them during the main game unless someone can come up with a good reason why. 3) No. I'm not planning on the signs being used for the main game. I don't know exactly how I'm going to manage the Bullseye round. This project is deep within the planning stages on a lot of levels although almost all graphics have been drawn up. I'm always open for suggestions so if anyone has any bright ideas, I'm all ears. Edit: The steps aren't missing. They're just out of the camera's view.

hmm well Todd i guess i'll throw out a idea with the family signs and give a few reasons why i think they'd be good in the main game: 1) I think your art should be displayed all through the game 2) It would be kinda cool to see the family sign for example it'd be like the show only no people are behind but no big deal if i was to host a party i'd like to have the pictures during the game to make it exactly like The Feud i'd walk around like Ray but thats just me 3) I loved the Ray version it was the best and Ray's version it my all time favorite i didnt hate one thing i loved the set it was great i can't tell you how many time i play Sega,SNES, 3DO ,and PC version's of Ray's 4) Basically I guess i'm trying to say keep the signs in you always said you wanted it to be like the show and the signs are used in the main game my friend and that is GMONEY'S top 4 answers to Naming A Reason To Have Todd Leave The Signs In The Main Game I think 1,3 and 4 are my strongest answers

Hey Todd, great news about a potential update to the original 76 software...three things that I would love to be included...
1. The opening screen silent at the Feud logo until a key is hit to start the intro music and flashing lights.
2. The glitch I mentioned regarding 11 answers showing up as 12 during the face-off.
3. The ability to pause the Fast Money clock temporarily.

Is there going to be a $5000/$10,000 graphic for Fast Money wins? I know early in the Combs run, they had a flashing graphic, and not long before the debut of Bullseye, they used a static, "glittering" graphic for the amount won. Not that it really matters a whole lot, but might be a nice little addition.
I'm not sure about having the family signs all through the game, myself. For one, the camera is usually showing a single contestant, not the entire "family area," which wouldn't look particularly good without an actual contestant there. For another, for my ease and the people playing, I like the focus to be on the answers for the questions, being able to look what's already up there. It's not entirely true to the show, but for the people playing along, and me hosting, it's easier to be able to see all the answers constantly, as if we were all looking at the big board. Certainly would be a nice addition for the opening though, and I suppose Bullseye, except I never cared for Bullseye much myself.

The problem with displaying the family signs all though the game is this, contestants need to see the game board to view the score and the answers already revealed. While it's true I want this to look as much like the TV show as I can, it's not worth it if you're taking away from playability.
The only practical uses I can find are for the opening sequence and to show scores in Bullseye. But that's about it.
I suppose I could have a button toggle views between the game board and the family sign...but why?
