Now that I have FINALLY registered onto this site, I can now tell my opinion of the FFPS.
FF4.0 was an overall improvment from 3.2. However, the strike sound on 3.2 was better than 4.0. As for FFch1.0, let me put to this way... I'm a Combs fan but I would rather use the Dawson games!
Todd, maybe I should give you some pointers for your next revision of FFC, so that sticklers like me will actually give your presentation software a "thumbs-up".

WHAT CRACK ARE YOU SMOKING. Each program ( no matter what LITTLE error it my have IF ANY) is just amazing. I do favor the Combs version more because that was more my time and I remember it better but each program reflects each version perfectly.
And just wondering what makes you an expert to give Todd tips on the work he does. Are you into computer programming, Flash, or Graphic Drawing or do you just enjoy WATCHING the Feud.
What bothers me most about your comment is how RUDE you are about the work Todd as done ABSOLUTELY FREE. This man has spent countless hours creating these programs just for our enjoyment. I guess your mother never told you , " IF YOU DONT HAVE ANYTHING NICE TO SAY DONT SAY IT".
I dont know Todd from a hole in the wall but lets give credit to the man when credit is due and lets stop nip picking at every little thing.

After taping some shows, and watching them over-and-over, you begin to begins more details with each time I look at it. I have a program called "Paint". That is where I make my Feud pictures. Almost all of which involve the gameboard. I have two pictures of the faceoff podium, one with all of the bars lit, and one thats all black.
Maybe if I had his ear, I would NOT be complaining. For months, I was anxiously waiting for the completion of FFch1.0. When I saw it... I was disappointed.
The lights on the bottom-half of the board reach the sides long before the top-half. (Strike 1). They're supposed to race at the SAME speed, and reach the sides at EXACTLY the same time.
From looking at the shadows on the board, it looks like the lights are coming from one side. (Strike 2). The lighting for the gameboard from '88-'94 came from BOTH sides, (look at the "Stu" pictures more closely), only for fast money did the lights came one direction.
The cue played when a family wins is too flat. (Strike 3) I AM a musician. I've gotten many compliments on my drumming, (six years in high school band, pep band, jazz band, and community band), I have had four years of piano lessons, and I am a satisfactory guitar player. I have a good ear for music, so don't even question me when I say that the FAMILY FEUD theme and all cues are in the key of G, and the tempo is 134 beats per minute. Both of which are true today!
Any questions?

OHHHHHHH you played in the school band so that does make you an expert on the subject. AND when you say you use the program "PAINT" to draw your sets are you referring to the program "PAINT" that comes FREE to everyone with Microsoft. You should post some of your graphics so we can compare your EXPERT work to Todds.
YOU DID NOT PAY FOR ANY OF THIS. So just enjoy it for what it is. If you waited so anxiously for this program and you are this disappointed then:
A. You should think about getting some mental help or B. You should think about getting out of the house more
Your complaints are stupid and the problems are just minor. If you HATE the program so much and you claim to be an expert ( high school band and "PAINT") then why dont you just stop using the FREE program Todd made and make one of your own to your standards so you have nothing to complain about or make you DISAPPOINTED.

And now for my personal opinion:
First of all, I'd like to thank feudfan for pointing out some inconsistancies I have with my software and the actual game show. I know some problems exist and I know there's some work left to do. That's why I put little numbers behind my software package names like "1.0," or "4.0a." They don't say "FINAL" or "COMPLETE." They, just like most people, are in a constant state of improvement.
I created this software because Family Feud is an underappreciated game to play in parties and in the classroom. Whether people watch the show or not, it's fun and easy to play. My software is a vehichle for this show to be played in parties and in the classroom. Using realistic graphics and authentic sounds, I try my best to capture that feeling you get while watching the show. It adds to the enjoyment when you're playing along and watching a still image of the board just as you would see it on the TV screen.
So, this software has features for the game show enthusiast and average person alike. I intended it to be that way. It's not going to be perfect and it never will be perfect. I'm a single human being trying to recreate something created by a large group of human beings. There's always room for error there.
feudfan, I have no problems with people pointing out problems in my software. In fact, if someone catches something I missed, I want to hear about it. We both have the same problem here, though. We don't like how we deliver. You don't like how I deliver my software and I don't like how you deliver your feedback. And because you want to use this forum to boast your knowledge, let me tell you and others who want to know more about me a little bit more about my experience.
Concerning music, I am an experienced musician. I am a church pianist. I have been for almost 10 years now (I started at age 14.) In band, you work for an extended period of time to produce maybe a concert a month, give or take a couple. In church, you have to perform new music each week including at least three hymns, an anthem, a prelude, a postlude, and interludes between some elements of worship. I also sing tenor in my choir while playing. Needless to say, my music background should not be left in doubt.
What you don't account for is where the source of my music comes from (among several other factors.) I have a complete collection of Family Feud music from 1988 including some music I can bet you've never heard before. The source of this music more than likely was dubbed from an audio tape made by Score Productions who dubbed that tape from the original tape reel or soruce of audio. You're going to have some variations of pitch after a couple of dubbing sessions. It can be corrected, yes, but it's certainly not so far from the correct pitch that I see any need for it to change so you may as well get used to it or delete it from the hard drive. You don't know what kind of trouble I went through for those cues anyway.
Concerning graphics, I can't boast any professional experience there. I can tell you all I learned about Photoshop--and Flash for that matter--I learned by picking up the software and teaching myself how to use it. Now I don't know much about "Paint" or how it compares with Photoshop. I do know, even though the graphics are not perfect, they're more than sufficient. Sure there are some things missing or other things that aren't perfect but I simply cannot make everything 100% realistic unless I just take screenshots from the show and paste them into my software. How cheap would that be? I can't name anyone here who would like to see that. I would be very interested in seeing what your pictures look like, though, if you wish to post them.
If you've been paying attention to what's going on around here, you would have already known that my Feud projects are scheduled for a complete overhaul. I know there are problems, I know there are graphics to complete. I want to fix them. But your attitude does absolutely NOTHING to help. You should really be ashamed to sit behind your computer screen and say something like "Uh...I'll stop nitpicking when there's nothing else to nitpick about." You're telling me that unless I make this thing absolutely PERFECT, you'll just keep crying about everything that's not exactly true to the show. All the while, I'm spending hundreds of dollars in domain name registrations and in web server hosting services, all of which you have to use if you've downloaded my software and I am charging you ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to download. I don't even ask for donations.
I'll give you a little life lesson here. No one's crap comes wrapped in a plastic baggie. In other words, everyone's crap stinks. We're all the same. We all make mistakes. We all aren't perfect. And there's no way we're ever going to do things with 100% satisfaction to other people. I've learned that by doing this and by getting married. And in marriage, there's a lot of give and take. You've taken my software and have given what in return? This? What an insult. You really should be ashamed.
For everyone else here, I aplogize for you having to listen to this. It's people like this who have no regard or respect for people who provide their time and efforts. I appreciate those who use my software and can offer their constructive criticism while maintaining a positive line of communication with me and others on this board. These projects were developed because of my love for the shows they reflect. You really are downloading these programs with the best intentions from my heart. Thank you very much for your continued support.

Wow ! Drama, drama, drama. First off, Todd you don't have to apologise because you have every right defend yourself and quite eliquiently I might add. If I was being attacked I would have the same reaction as I'm sure any anybody would have acted the same way if they were in your position. Second of all feudfan there is a fine line between critizing and attacking someone's work. I know several people who program games professionaly and I used to do it to when I was a kid and it is madly difficult. What I want to ask you is if you know so much about Family Feud why don't you make your own game. I mean after all you are an accomplished musician and it should be easy for someone with your intelligence to make such a perfect game. BTW there's another point. This is a game it's not a freakin' simulation. Todd doesn't have a big budget or a set of a hundred programmers to help him with this. Todd you can correct me if I'm wrong but from what I understand he does everything by himself which is in my oppion more impressive because he has to work that much harder to impress us. After all Todd isn't Kazunori Yamauchi and his game isn't the Gran Turismo series. Give the guy a break. You didn't pay for it and beggers can't be choosers.

Yes, the "Paint" I'm talking about is what comes free with a Microsoft computer. How do I post my graphics onto this site?

I AM sorry for "how" I delivered my complaints, however I am NOT sorry for the complaints themselves. I would like to say the following statement to Todd... I know what I want, I just don't know HOW to get what I want. I hope this answers everybody's questions. P.S. : Hats off to your music experience Todd.

I know what I want, I just don't know HOW to get what I want. You're going to have to take experiences like this to learn how to get what you want. The business world isn't going to be as nice about it as I am when you want to get a job, get a raise, get a promotion, work with a team, etc. And you're certainly going to have to get better at learning who to attack and who to support. And if you weren't allowed to say nice things then you wouldn't have anything to say at all, I feel sorry for you. A negative attitude and sour outlook on life isn't going to get you any respect. If you want to post a picture, upload it to a web site and click the image button above the text entry window when you create a message. If you do not have space to put it on, e-mail it to me. I think we're all very interested in seeing just how good your drawings are using such a high-end product as MS Paint.

One thing I'm concerned about here for using MS Paint... the giant file sizes made by the BMP format. And (to feudfan) if you're really going to be that much of a [cuckoo] about this, I would really love to see you do a better job on it. Because if you can't, then don't complain. There's a difference between complaining and constructive criticism, and I highly recommend you learn the difference. It took me a long time in order to learn it, but I did. I even made a page for Todd to see about for when he does come back to FFC about how to fix the light animation. Don't just complain about what's wrong, DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT! That's an important life lesson for anyone to learn. I'll also let you in on a little something... I gave the FFC program a "thumbs up" when it was in pre-release and it only got better when I saw it in v1.0. It won't ever be an exact re-creation of the FFC game. Deal with it. If you're more inclined to use the Dawson version, then you're free to do so. I don't see it off the site, so go ahead and use it. Just don't be a total [cuckoo] about it. We don't need those sorts of statements on this board.

Okay, I think all parties involved have said what they needed to say. We haven't seen feudfan post his picture and I haven't seen it in my e-mail since last night. Let's just end this and move on.
