For those interested:
Since the last update, I fixed a huge bug that caused the tie games to work improperly. It now works like the show; after a tie has been acheived, the scores for both sides are reset and the game board operator is prompted to choose between two tie game questions. The team which played last starts off and tries to guess all the items. The next team them plays with the timer starting off with the amount of time needed to beat the other team (eg. if the first team guesses all items in 6 seconds, the timer then starts off at 24 for the next team [24 + 6 = 30 total seconds].)
The only playable things that need to be accomplished before release time today are the flashing "WINNER" prompts for the winning team.
Purists will be glad to know that during the Winner's Circle game, the game board is the only visible element shown on the screen and the trilons can be turned easily by an automated system of control.
Music and sounds will not be available on the beta test. This is mostly due to file size concerns and because movies compiled with songs need to be converted each time which can take minutes on my production laptop.
Public release will depend on how well beta testing goes. Stay tuned for more updates.

Query: I thought the more recent versions of Flash allowed you to import MP3's directly. In that situation, I'm curious why it takes so long to export the SWF.
Just thinking out loud, I guess.

Yeah, dumb question on my part. Chris and Dan were late adopters to later versions as well.

Yeah, dumb question on my part. Chris and Dan were late adopters to later versions as well. To be perfectly honest with you, I've tried programming with the first version of Flash MX. The interface was so much different. My projects use a lot of code and the interface for MX wasn't as friendly in displaying it. Now that I'm running my desktop at 1280 x 1024, I'm going to try to get used to the MX interface and way of doing things again.

I have to agree that the Flash 4 style was convenient to use. A shame that run-in they had with Adobe about GUIs send that down the drain.
My understanding of what they were going to be doing is releasing different flavors of interfaces for different types of users. For example, those who came from a programming background could have a default interface useful for scripting, while graphic designers could have something that centered more on that end of things.
Don't know what became of that.

The beta version went out last night. I have a butt-load of things to correct regarding rules and some graphic issues. I really don't think it'll take me long to fix them.
The next beta will fix the issues with this beta, sport correct graphics for game elements, and will have sound. I hope to have it ready for testing in less than a week. If that beta test goes well, look for the public release a few days after beta.
Keep your fingers crossed! We're almost there!

I'm sure Todd's already got that all taken care of. He obviously knows what he's doing and has common sense to put in a manual.

I'm going to post it soon; just haven't had the chance to do that yet. So far beta testing has gone fairly well. I've quickly discovered that I am NOT an expert at this show. There are a lot more problems with the game than I anticipated. I still hope to have them all squared away this week but I still have some work to do beyond fixing the issues we have now, including adding sounds and correcting a few rules.
