I've heard a lot of people with different answers to this question, I was wondering if anybody knew, definitively and for sure, how the mechanics for the Dawson and Combs rotating boards worked. How did the boards rotate and stop at the right place, and how did the panels flip? A lot of people I know have speculated, but I haven't heard an answer from somebody that knows for sure. Anybody have any info?

HI Stamfam,
The answers to the board I know for sure where flip mechanically. There was a show i remember watching that the answer was stuck and you can hear that the device was jammed and Ray had to go and hit it to knock it free.
As for the big board moving I believe that was done manually ( but not for sure ) ther was on show that i remember Ray talking to the person that works behind the board and he moved the big boad and stuck his head out.

I moved this topic since it doesn't really relate to the software. That's what this particular forum is for. This came up as a topic of discussion on the Game Show Discussion Forum a few weeks ago. I'll try to find the topic and refer you to it. To summarize what they talked about, someone claimed they worked magnetically. Specifics on the panels weren't discussed and I really don't think anyone knows all the ins and outs of it. The large trilon board was turned manually. There are handles on the edges of the trilon. Sometimes if the board is crooked you can actually see them. GSN ran a syndicated morning episode where Richard went up to move the board because it was crooked. After Richard straightened it, they moved it back. He straightened it again, went to the family playing the question, and looked up to see them moving the board every which-a-way.
