Another idea out of my turning gears:
I'm considering building a device to be used as buzzers for the face-off. Essentially, it would be two buzzers mounted on a wood base. I've located some large buttons that should serve very well. I believe with shipping, handling, labor and parts I could keep the device in the $100 neighborhood.
Would anyone on this board be interested? What kind of features should be included with such a device?
I haven't planned a prototype model yet. Just as in the game, I would try to make it look as close to the show as possible. What are your thoughts?

Hey Todd, sounds preety cool if you ask me! Where did you find the buzzers by the way. I was thinking about rigging up a buzzer system for You Don't know Jack. It would be great for the Feud too!
P.S. Love the Program and I can't wait for the '88 Conversion!

Hi Gang. I've mad some great buzzers and have only about $10 in to it. I had an old two button joystick lying around that I tore apart. I kept all the electronics intact, but added about 15 ft of old phone cord to the joystick switches, so I could get them a distance from the computer. I picked up some wood pieces at a craft store and built a plunger and a base for the switch. Two make the joystick work with the game, there are several utilities out there that will convert joystick button presses into keystrokes. The one I have used can be found at : www.deinmeister.de/jct_e.htmAll you have to do is setup the Z and / buttons. I've posted a picture here or my buttons www.teachmis.com/buzzer.jpgEmail me at dheier@hotmail.com if you would like some help with a similar project. I used the old sytyle joystick, but any type of usb or gameport joystick should work.

I only been on this site for two days and been thinking about how to make the buzzer. Heres is my thought about having a buzzer.
First, I wouldnt even know how to start making a face off device so I for one would buy one off of you.
Second, If you do have a podium to do the face off with then you dont need the close up graphic of the podium on the screen. Is there a way to have an option that if you have a device for the face off you will be able to see the full shot of the big board and just have the lights on the board indicate who buzzed in first. So it would look like the show with the big board behind the host and the podium up front. ( I see it in my head just hope i explained it right in words LOLOL)

I'm releasing another application at some point that will only serve as the faceoff display. When run, it'll be a totally black screen. When the appropriate button is pressed, one half of the screen will light up. In this way, you can have the board displayed on a screen and have another separate screen or monitor at the face-off podium. It will be a very simple application for a very simple function. Yes, I'll have both a Dawson and Comb's version.

Is there a site out there at actually sells the box/plunger type of buzzers that would work for a PC? I'm doing a HUGE Feud presentation for an organization, and I want this to look cool.
The main plan is to get my laptop hooked up to a PC projector, but I need to figure out someway to actually hook all this up with the controller being off stage, not right in the middle of the stage. It's going to be a headache, so...
Any info would be GREATLY appreciated!

Any luck in finding the stand alone face off application which would display only the face off. You had stated that you had it on your hard drive and just needed to find it. i've built my face off control stand, and this stand alone application is all I need to complete the unit.
Thanks

no problem,
let me know if you think you will locate it by December 10th (X-mas party). This way I can have time to come up with a temp. alternative.
Thanks

How 'bout this... Glue and/or tape a picture of the podium onto the bottom of a shoebox, tape a hand-held TIGER home game onto the short side of the shoebox (which is now the top of the podium). You can use the inside of the shoebox to place your question cards in. Be sure to have the game ON so you know who rang in first.

For those of you who are wanting a buzzer system to plug into your usb ports on your pc, (and have some money to spend) I purchased a three buzzer system from Buzzers.com. I had to contact them after they arrived to find out how to program them and they emailed me the info immediately. I can now use the buzzers which function off of the 'z' and '/' key.
It works great.
