The Feud remake buzz has been going about in various forums but I have decided to lay out my intentions and make up a game plan for this thing to get out. Since releasing both Feud games, bits and pieces have been missing from the game and I want to clear those up as well as add some more options. Here's what I have on my list so far:
Feud '76: -Choice between various strike sounds -Choice of score display character sets -Choice of computer display board character sets (only the 6 changes) -Choice of two versions of the game board; one from 1978 and another from 1985. There are only a few slight changes -Add zoom-out option for fast money round -Allow points to be awarded directly after answer is revealed without rewarding the bank plus the last revealed answer
Feud '88: -Better SFX -Choice between strikes -Choice between 3 and 4 digit board -Remove fast panel animations (they don't look right) -Fix colors of bullseye board
For both versions, almost all graphics will be scrapped in favor of better looking graphics that are more realistic and true to the show. A true wide-angle set shot will be added that will show the game board and family name backdrop props.
Though I do not have any music samples to accomplish this with and though I have never seen this show before, I will be adding Feud '94 to the mix. It will probably be an option to Feud '88 instead of its own separate project but I will add the graphics.
The timetable for this hasn't been set but I do intend to do this and get it right. Feud '76 will go first then '88 with the '94 option.

Todd I think someone mention this before but im not sure. You think you can also add an option to the game so you can choose the dollar amount played for in fast money. In family feud challenge if you play bullseye then that would be the amouth you play for but if you dont use bullseye its set for a default of $5000. I was wondering if there is a way that instead of showing $5000 we can either A. make it what we want or B. not show the prize amount flashing when 200 points are won.

I would like to see an option where you change how many points a family needs to win in the bonus round instead of the regular 200.
I would also like to see an option for FF '76 where I can display the amount of what a family won in the bonus round like there is in Family Feud Challenge.

I like the fact that you can change the total amount won after winning Fast Money... so don't change that!

I am very excited about these upcoming projects! My one recurring suggestion is a pause function for Fast Money (plus I think somebody mentioned that the timer is fast in the 88 version).

That's a mighty full plate you got there, Todd, but you can do this. Just take a deep breath and swing at the ball.
Something else has bugged me about Feud 88: no Fast Money win cue. It's the same as the game win cue, so no additional recording/editing is necessary for it.
Also, you might want an option to force the second person to play should the first one win Fast Money all by themselves. Just as a tribute to Ray Combs' ability to improvise, if nothing else.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Dawson Feud have different strike graphics as well as sounds?
As for my own wishes, why not have choices for strike sounds for Feud 88 too?

I'm not sure about the original Family Feud graphics. I imagine the same graphic template was used but at times it appeared the superimposed graphics were skewed a little. How the optical machine works and what caused this is beyond my knowledge. I do know that the color tone changed invariably; sometimes during the same episode. And I've actually seen a blue strike graphic before. Concerning changing graphics and sounds for the strikes in Feud 88: yeah, why don't I do that? :-) Consider it on the to-do list!

Todd I came up with another idea last night for an option for the family feud. I dont know if it is possiable but when the face off option is selected and its time for a new question the program has a zoom in on the face off podium. What i was thinking was to have an option for instead of the zoom in on the podium to just have a wide shot of the big boad. When someone rings in the lights on their side would light up. This will bring a more true feeling to the game if someone is playing with a projection behind them and has a face off podium built. So instead of the face off podium being shown on screen it will just be the big board. So the option can say something like FACE OFF: YES/NO/BIG BOARD ONLY
Just a thought :-)

If you're thinking of the zoomed-in angle of the big board without the faceoff podium, that would be kinda redundant, wouldn't you think?

If you're thinking of the zoomed-in angle of the big board without the faceoff podium, that would be kinda redundant, wouldn't you think? Ok if you click on NO then there is no face off function (no sound effect or ring in) What i was thinking is it will be like having the face off fuction ON but instead of showing a close up of the face off podium show a wide shot of the big boad. To indicate who rang in first have the lights on the big board light up to the direction of that team. That why when playing a game with a face off podium built the big board will look like its behind you just like on the show.

Hey Todd. If its alright with you i would like help you with the graphics for the 94 version that you are tossing in as an option (though i would need your permission to utilize some images from your FFC program). And i have clear sound files (real audio format) of the opening and closing themes that you can use (you can just carry over the SFX since they never changed them). One more thing can you have the board rotate for it? (i know that the board never rotates but i think it would be cool to see that)
