hey Todd,
Heres another suggestion which is to add a controler option on the pull down menus so that people would be able to use a game pad (those playstation/2 controlers that you can hook-up then set the "z" and "/" keys to the L/R trigger buttons on controler) or a dance pad (i have the presentation software installed on a computer at my local Videogame store, so this would be intresting to have the players "Jump-in" to "ring-in" ;D ). At least with this option people wouldn't have to DL an unknown program to set up the gamepads (i swear i'm still trying to figure how to set the little bugger up with that stupid program that was metioned on this disscussion board). I really hope that this suggestion makes it to the program.

Sorry, but as I've said several times before, Flash does not support controller input.

A friend of mine, Chris Colbourne, gave me an applet that shows that Flash can support controller input, but not inherently. Not only that, but the way that PSX/PS2 controllers are set up, there'd be quite a bit of experimentation to get the button numbers right.
For instance, the PS2-style controller I have (works with PC only) has buttons 5 & 7 marked for L1 & L2 and buttons 6 & 8 marked for R1 & R2. In reality, those buttons are marked one number too high for what the computer reads. Also, what if the person wants to use L3 & R3 for the buzzers? I don't even know what numbers they are. (EDIT: I found out that they're numbers 10 and 11, respectively.)
This is why it's just easier to use Joy2Key. Not only that, but it's not an unknown program. I've used it and it works quite well. Also, I don't think Todd would like to shell out yet more money just to get the joystick input capabilities.

I've searched around for some add-ons that are supposed to enable joystick support in Flash. But why buy and install such a thing if Joy2Key works so well? By the way, Joy2Key isn't an unknown program. Hundreds of thousands of people use it for homemade joysticks for use in MAME.
Something else you need to realize--something Grey hinted at--is the variety of controllers out there. The top-mounted shoulder buttons that a lot of joysticks have are mapped to different buttons numbers. Your joystick might use 5 and 6 while a Sidewinder controller might use 7 or 8. I have a joystick that uses 6 and 8 for some odd reason. Anyway, I'd have to write code to sense and detect button presses so they could be mapped out for their respective function. You'd also have to go through with this each time you start the program as there wouldn't be a way to save the configuration to a config file.
All in all, it's much easier to use the 3rd party software than it is for me to integrate it into Flash.

Well right now my laptop is out of commission till i get a new a/c adapter. I do have the joy2key program ,but im still trying to figure out how to assign the keys to the corresponding button thats the problem im having. I did have someone to help me, but have lost all contact, so that was no help at all. I think i have a flash exe file somewhere on my laptop that had control options, actually come to think of it didnt the most recent version of flash have it in there menus cause i'd swear i have that option, but i have to look see when i get the adapter (but it may be a while since sometimes im a lazy arse ).

I've been using Flash 4.0 to create movies with, which certainly has no joystick support. I'm considering using the latest version but again, there's still the configuration issue mentioned above as well as a learning curve for yours truly.

Hi, Todd. It's been a while since I last posted here.
The release of your Pyramid game gives me a wonderful idea of an addition to the next update of your Family Feud program - a sample questions document. Here is what it would have...
Bullseye Round (for Feud '88 only)
Question #1:
<Insert question here>
<Insert Bullseye answer here>
(Go through all five Bullseye questions in this manner.)
Main Game (Here, I'm going through the process for only 1 round.)
Dollar/Point values are Doubled/Tripled (omit this line for Single-value questions).
100 people surveyed (or specify a special survey group, such as 100 men - no women, 100 women - no men, 100 high school students, etc.);
Top x answers are on the board (where x is the number of available answers);
Here's the question...
<Insert question here>
1) <Insert the most popular answer here> 2) <Insert the 2nd most popular answer here> (Go through all answers in this manner...all answers that made the survey, that is...in order of popularity.)
Fast Money (refer to this sheet only when viewing survey results; the numbers to the left of each answer is the number to be pressed on the keyboard when the host says, "Survey said..."; press 0 if player's answer did not make the survey to show that "Survey said...0")
Question 1: <Insert first question here> 1) <Insert the no. 1 answer here> 2) <Insert the no. 2 answer here> ...etc (Remeber to list answers in order of popularity).
(Go through all 5 Fast Money questions in this manner)
There you have it.

Thanks for pointing this out. I wouldn't have included the sample questions document with the Pyramid release but so many people requested the questions from the Family Feud releases that I decided to include it.
At some time, I also want to write some hints for emcees. I had a guy once emcee a game who insisted on revealing missed answers from the bottom of the survey to the top. Of course, my software doesn't support that! Then he totally blew it for Fast Money. When the first person finished, he brought the second person on out to which I had to yell to get it to stop! Eventually everything worked out but geez...he said he really knew how to host it. And he's a professional actor to boot. So I can really see the use in such a document!
